  • Acromegaly and Gigantism
    Acromegaly is a hormonal disorder that results from too much growth hormone (GH) in the body. The pituitary, a small gland in the brain, makes GH. In acromegaly, the pituitary produces excessive amounts of GH. Acromegaly Gigantism results if this excess GH starts prior to adulthood.

    Hypoptuitarism is the failure to produce or release sufficient levels of the pituitary hormones, Some hormones are more susceptible to loss (damage) than others. Treatments include: Recombant GH, Oestrogen or Testosterone esters, Gonadotrophins, Hydrocortisone, Thyroxine.

  • Prolactinoma
    A prolactinoma is a benign tumour (adenoma) of the pituitary gland that produces a hormone called prolactin. Symptoms of prolactinoma are caused by too much prolactin in the blood (hyperprolactinemia) or by pressure effects of the adenoma on surrounding tissues.

  • Non-Functioning Pituitary Adenoma
    A Non-Functioning Pituitary Adenoma is a pituitary tumour (adenoma) that does not produce any hormones. The adenoma can cause pressure on the pituitary gland affecting the balance of hormones produced by the pituitary gland. The pressure effects can also cause headaches and alter vision.

  • Sleep Apnoea
    Sleep Apnoea is the intermittent and repeated upper airway collapse during sleep. This results in irregular breathing at night and excessive sleepiness during the day. Although it is not a pituitary condition in itself, it is prevalent in people with Acromegaly (or Acromegaly Gigantism).
