Suggestions

A place to discuss in depth one facet of pituitary tumours. Each month will see a new topic and at the end of the month, the postings will be collated and translated into a web page that will be available for everyone both now, and into the future.
This month's "Flavour of the Month" is FATIGUE

Hi Guys,

Now taking suggestions on the subject of the month for August. Ideally something not only relevent, but some subject that will lock the forum in debate would be ideal.

It might seem too black & unpalatable an idea, but what about any unexpected boons that arise from destructive conditions that force you to change your life?

Yes you have to believe there is. Here it is meeting all these lovely fellow pituitary patients!
Hormonal disorders began 1978. Cushings symptoms presented in 1988. After years of mis-diagnosis, self-diagnosed (Woman magazine) 2000. Confirmed as cyclical Cushings 2002. Transphenoidal surgery to remove pituitary tumour. 5 years on hydrocortisone, then 12 month withdrawal, now medication free. Type II diabetes caused by Cushings.

How about, "Alternative medicine, your experience....", or we can just tell obscene jokes to each other, I like a good laugh now and then, if not bawdy, maybe just stoopid jokes. You decide.

Velveeta, "a cheese food." Really? Cheese? A food? Discuss....

We in the UK are spared Velveeta (and aerosol cheese for that matter). We do, however, have our own culinary abominations. (Some people would include Marmite in this).

Yes, I would include marmite and "Quorn", mad from contagion or yeast or something. I would also include hominy in that group: it is corn on steroids with bad b.o. A friend just e-mailed me something about pink slime-- a by product from the slaughterhosue floor, contaminated by contagion and washed with ammonia to sanitize it for use as an additive in meat by-products like ground beef and hot dogs. Good thing your are a veg--vegetarian, not vegetable. I buy local and avoid things like RBST and pink slime. Without a car ( in shop) and forced to use public transportation. Thank goodness the temperature is going down. Looks like thunder outside and hot and muggy. The old people say that this weather is "close", atmosphere that is drippy, oppresive and hanging about your shoulders.

No, I am not a vegetable, despite the drugs the doctors had me on earlier this year :-)

It is good to walk/bus it to the shops -- it focuses your attention on what you really need to buy!
